All you can eat - Duck Delights in June at The Silk Garden

Another scrumptious menu, The Silk Garden at The Pacific Sutera offers Duck Delights this month of June. Are you a duck lover? Why not take the time to try something new in town?

Look at how Michael cut the fine duck skin. It was thin, and crispy.

As they placed the whole duck behind us, setting up and going to cut them in pieces, immediately I can smell the roasted duck. It's like you can know you are going to be served soon! No kidding.

I like to eat Peking Duck and my family will go to the Chinese restaurant in Tanjung Aru. Or else, we will just tapau from Petaling Street whenever we travel to Kuala Lumpur. Boxes of boxes of duck will be shipped back to Kota Kinabalu. Hehe.

Now let us see the Menu in The Silk Garden.

1. Peking Duck DUO Flavour & Duck Bone Broth - RM100++ Per Duck (5/5)
Now this is tricky. The Peking Duck DUO Flavour will be the Duck Skin, and the Peking Duck Wraps + Duck Bone Broth. So, three dishes in one order! Yums. Definitely I will come back for this as it is worth the price and experience!

Now, let's talk about the first thing - Duck Skin. Don't tell me nobody like to eat this. Even for a person who doesn't really like to eat normal poultry skin, I like this. A LOT. Thin and crispy duck skin - don't just allow your eyes to see, but let your mouth to taste the crispy duck skin. Frankly speaking, this is one crispy duck skin that certainly gets you in the mood and wanted more.

Now, the second - Peking Duck Wrap. All time favourite dish, this is one delicious duck wrap that I have not tasted for so long. But, well, normally we don't get this often. I mean, the service of being served when it comes to this dish. Usually the fun way of indulging this dish is to warp the duck on your own. Firstly, take a piece of the pancake and put it onto your plate, spread the special prepared sause, and then add the cucumber and spring onions. Lastly, wrap it all together. If you have no idea how to do it, no worries, it's all prepared as it is a fine dining restaurant. :P

Here comes the Duck Bone Broth. Unexpected, this is an interesting soup. A little bit taste of sourly, spicy, and sweet. This is because the soup should look a bit like white in colour but this is a clear soup. Now this is one dish that I do recommend you to order when you are dining in The Silk Garden.

2. Pan-Seared Crispy Skin Duck Breast with Onion Marmalade Dip and Semi-Dried Roasted Plum - RM40.00 Per Portion
Something different about this dish as I first took a peek, I thought it was bruchetta! Funny me. Tomato topped with pan-seared duck breast and onion, it is tender and juicy. I am a meat eater, so this is one interesting dish that I have never tried before. There's a strong taste of the onion marmalade dip, but I like the meat. Serious. Please note that the second picture shows the actual serving.

3. Duck Leg Confit with Citrus Reduction - RM45.00++ Per Portion
Everyone likes Chicken Drumstick. What about Duck Leg? It certainly looks like a Lamb Shank here right?

4. Unique Duck Ravioli with Double Boiled Superior Golden Broth - RM35.00++ Per Portion

5. Chef Louie's Smoked Duck Passion Fruit & Lemon Grass Compote - RM35.00++ Per Portion

#SHWGF2014 Baba Nyonya Cuisine at The Spice Island

Spending another night in Spice Island at Sutera Harbour Resort. This time, I get to try out their very first Baba Nyonya menu in the hotel and this will be the first hotel that thought of serving Baba Nyonya cuisine which is hardly get in Sabah. Of course, everyone know about the difficulties in preparing a perfect Baba Nyonya dish. So why don’t head down to The Spice Island and try out?

Walking in to the restaurant for the second time makes me kind of remember the perfect view of both resort and hotel, over looking the Marina with all beautiful white yacht and boats. Tables are all set up with the Baba Nyonya Basket - Joget Bakul Siah, with dimmed lights and dark maroon walls.

First dish was a HOT dish. Oh well, I remember I did posted a picture of it and said that we get excited after eating the Kerabu, not from the effect of the wine.

1. Appetizer: Pie Tie and Kerabu Kacang Botol
Imagine, it’s really spicy, with a sourish taste.

 2. Soup: Sup Itik Tim (Duck Soup)

3. Main Course: Kari Udang, Ayam Kapitan, Beef with Plum Sauce, Ikan Asam Pedas, and Steamed White Rice

 4. Dessert: Abok Abok Sagu

Malam Cinta 2014 Fashion Show by ‘A-Sutra’

If I’m not mistaken, this is my first time experiencing a fashion show by A-Sutra, showcasing the modern Malay outfit that can be worn from day till night. The night is filled with LOVE as the name of the event is called the 'Malam Cinta'.

Walking into the event venue is like having a really romantic moment as the tables and the hall are decorated perfectly as if like we’re entering a wedding dinner. Just kidding! But seriously, it’s a pretty set up. First, there are drum performances which excites me the most. I love music and I do think that they should perform more in the events that we have in Kota Kinabalu. We need to bring the music scene OUT!

Here comes the fashion show. Well, last time I used to do runways and of course we have something to talk about – experience. Anyways, some of the dresses did catch my attention. I am always keen to try on something new and I do think that I should buy some of these dresses to attend government events (which I am expected to, sooner or later). So, better grab some before I really need it! I like the modern ones that the models were showing yesterday, especially the purple one. So chic and trendy!

Poor photos, I know. We were just using our phones! Well, the night ends well by having selfies with colleagues. Note on the venue: Nice lamp post for us to have another mileage on our individual camera shots! Thanks Sutera Harbour :)

Silk Garden NEW MENU for CNY 2014!

Silk Garden is offering their best Chinese New Year menu again this year, starting from RM117 nett to RM150 nett per person!

Personally, thank you once again The Pacific Sutera for your kind invitation to taste the newly created menu! It’s a never ending celebrating at Sutera Harbour Resort. No matter what festival or occasion, Sutera Harbour Resort will have something for everyone to participate.

In this Lunar New Year 2014, the resort has prepared these fabulous reunion promotions for you to plan your festive with your family and loved ones. Well, who knows you have a big family gathering? Head over to Silk Garden, The Pacific Sutera Hotel!

There are three different 9-course set menus. Each set menu comes with complimentary Yee Sang or what we call, “Prosperity Toss” in English, for a prosperous New Year.

Sweet and sourish dish for the Chinese in considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor. Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since "fish ()" is commonly conflated with its homophone "abundance ()". With that, Yúshēng (余升) means an increase in abundance. Some would consume it on Renri (人日), the seventh day of the Chinese New Year, although in practice it may be eaten on any convenient day during Chinese New Year (1st to 15th Day).
